For neurodivergent individuals, managing your body's energy levels and internal battery can be an essential task. There are a few reasons (non-exhaustive) why neurodivergent individuals may experience differences to their internal body battery levels.
For example, executive functioning difference may mean that a neurodivergent individual may experience a bigger drop in their energy levels when completing day-to-day organisational tasks such as cooking, cleaning, managing their time, or planning.
Neurodivergent individuals may also experience large impacts to their battery following social events or through masking (i.e. pressure to appear neurotypical/ allistic) and to meet societies neurotypical expectations.
As such, being aware of your body battery and the factors which contribute to it decreasing or increasing can be important for day-to-day functioning.
Clients of Attain Psychology have access to our free resource, the My Body Battery Worksheet. With this resource, you can take some time to reflect on what experiences or tasks contribute to a drain on your body battery.

As well as thinking about what factors contribute to a sense of increased energy. From here, you can make a plan to try to mitigate the draining factors and increase the occurrence of positive and energising experiences.
