Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Medicare rebate?

Your doctor may be able to write you a GP Mental Health Care Plan and referral letter that entitles you to a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. The current rate for the Medicare rebate is $93.25 for in-office and telehealth consultations. To access this rebate, talk with your doctor.

Can I access private health for the session?

Your private health insurer can confirm whether psychology sessions are covered under your health insurance. We cannot provide private health insurance rebates. You can claim a rebate on your health insurance by submitting your invoice to your insurer. You do not require a Mental Health Care Plan or referral to attend and claim privately.

You cannot obtain a health fund rebate AND a Medicare rebate for the same session.

Can I access sessions under WorkCover?

We accept WorkCover QLD referrals and are a registered provider. In many cases, the entire session fee will be covered. However, please contact us directly to find out more as rebates available will depend on your personal circumstances.

How can I book a session?

You can book a session by using the contact form or contact details at the bottom of the this page.

What can I expect from the first session?

Understandably, you may be feeling quite nervous before and during your first session. However, my aim is to help you feel as comfortable and confident in the process as possible. The first session will focus on helping me to better understand your needs, goals, and what you'd like to achieve from our time working together. This may involve exploring your background and history. With a deeper understanding of you and your unique situation, we can begin to plan how to move forward. This includes focusing on each of your goals, exploring the barriers to these goals, developing your strengths and skills, and giving you practical strategies to begin applying straight away.

How many sessions do I need?

This will depend on your individual needs. You may only require a few sessions to feel you've made your desired progress. However, some people may require ongoing sessions. Check-in sessions can also be a useful tool to review your goals and progress with your practitioner. We aim to create a collaborative conversation about your goals and progress to ensure these sessions are meeting your needs.
