As the Stanford-Binet L-M was designed (in part) to identify the highly gifted, it provides more accurate information about a gifted child’s abilities than a test such as the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children - Fourth Edition (WISC-IV). This is despite the older “statistical norms” of the Stanford-Binet L-M. Newer tests have lower statistical “ceilings” and do not differentiate in the upper ranges. It is therefore useful to offer the Stanford-Binet L-M either as a supplementary test where “ceilings” have been reached on the WISC-IV, or in combination with the Stanford-Binet 5 intelligence test. Stanford-Binet 5 or WISC-IV assessments are also available at Attain Psychology & Educational Consulting. In addition, the Stanford-Binet 5 / Stanford-Binet L-M combination is endorsed by psychologists specialising in gifted education - for information by eminent practitioners and researchers regarding the use of the Stanford-Binet L-M, please click here.
